26 Affirmations for Total Well-Being!

By, Nadirah Aqueelah Shakir

I felt the emotional state of the collective deeply during covid. At times I even fell victim to states of fear and sadness. By both God’s grace and power, I was able to ground down and connect to my core spiritual beliefs and practices which included prayer, meditation, spiritual study, yoga, mindful eating, and the creation and use of affirmations and denials. My mental state was like night and day. I went from worrying and tuning into the news to being faithful and creating uplifting and faith filled messages on social media. Instead of feeling isolated and alone during “lockdown,” I began to feel grateful for solitude, deep study and reflection. The birth of my third book, The Manifest Star, What I Say Grows is the manifestation of the affirmative consciousness that I exercised in order to help myself feel better.

Today now more than ever we have to exercise an affirmative mental attitude. We have to know that we are the power and the only power on the planet and in the Universe. We have to own our power, and cultivate a mentality which reflects our divinity. We cannot allow fear to rob us or distract us from our innate God-Given Power. We have to stay focused on all of the Good that is alive and still well in this Life, and we have to create more of that good however we can.

As humans we have more power than we are aware of; and more power than we will probably ever tap into and use in this incarnation. Rather than get inundated with all of the ways that we can use our power I want you to focus on one of the easiest, yet most powerful ways to use your power so that you can feel well and create an atmosphere of well-being. This easy yet powerful way is affirming. You can use affirmations to change your mood, and the atmosphere in which you are in; but more importantly the constant repetition of affirmations creates a vibrational frequency in which you can abide in no matter what’s going on outside of you.

Below I have listed twenty-six affirmations from my book, The Manifest Star, What I Say Grows that will help you create a frequency of total well-being, mind, body, and spirit. My hope and prayer is that you feel well, and you go out into the world and be the vibrational frequency of total well-being so that our world can heal. And so it is. Namaste & Ashe.

It’s Christmas, don’t forget The Christ

by, Nadirah Aqueelah Shakir

Make your holiday, holy.

People are breaking the bank for gifts for loved ones and friends. It’s a nice sentiment. The night air on Christmas eve was filled with beats and lyrics of all kind. I didn’t hear gospel though. People are celebrating what’s known today as Christmas, which is symbolic of the birth of Christ. Some say it’s Jesus’s birthday. However, if you study enough, you may discover that Jesus wasn’t born in December. That’s neither here nor there. What is here, even though the physical body of Jesus is not, is the Christ.

The Christ was here before Jesus awakened to it, and it will be here until the end of what we know as time. So, what is the Christ? The Christ is the perfect idea of man in the Mind of God. The Christ is the divine pattern, unblemished and untarnished which God originally intended for man before there was what we refer to as sin of any kind. The Christ is the Mind which beholds no sin. The Christ is the perfection and purity of the highest thought.

So, on these holidays, which I wholeheartedly view as an opportunity for spiritual reflection and treat as holy days (first and foremost), it is so important to align oneself and one’s thoughts with the spiritual meaning, and the symbolic or metaphysical meaning of the day that we celebrate.

On Christmas there is often the exchange of gifts. People set up trees and decorate them with ornaments. Some people put lights on their house, and they set out cookies for Santa to eat as he comes down the chimney. But what if you don’t have a chimney? What if you are glucose intolerant or challenged with a sugar addiction? What if financially in this season you cannot afford to buy gifts, or trees, or add another hundred or two to the light bill to put up lights? What do you do then?

You celebrate your Christ by acknowledging the spiritual gifts that The Father of Lights have encoded within you from birth. Set the intention to become aware of your spiritual gifts. Spiritual giftedness goes beyond anything material that we can buy. Sharing our spiritual gifts often fulfil us in ways that no amount of cookies and milk can. Each time we connect within and acknowledge our spiritual gifts, we water the roots of our spiritual tree and grow robust and heavenly.

Every thought that we have in recognition to our spiritual gifts waters our spiritual tree. When we share our spiritual gifts, we light up our lives; but we also light up the consciousness of another human being, thereby lighting up the planet—the whole house of God. This makes The Father of lights happy. I believe Jesus smiles at this as well, as he proclaimed that we would not only do the works that he did, but greater.

So…if we are celebrating Christmas or the birth of the Christ let us remember The Christ, and the perfect ideas in which it contains. Some of my favorite spiritual gifts are Faith, Strength, Judgment, Love, Power, Imagination, Understanding, Will, Order, Zeal, Elimination, and Life. I invite you this Christmas to meditate on The Christ and these divine ideas and lean into what they mean for you. I also invite you to look at your loved ones, friends, and family, and see the prefect idea in the Mind of God in which you feel they represent. Share it with them before you give them their material gift or after, as I realize that some of us may have already opened our gifts this early morning. Celebrate, laugh, be merry, do all the things, but don’t forget The Christ. Become one with that idea. We all encoded with the Christ pattern. How are we using our spiritual gifts? Where is our consciousness? Merry Christmas, and because I am who I AM, Happy Hanukkah. Happy Kwanza, and the Happiest gifted New Year.

Grateful For the Human Experience

by, Nadirah Aqueelah Shakir

My schedule was jammed packed last night, to God be the glory. So, when I got off of work, I was tired and hungry. I fast during the day because I like to eat at home, sitting down, and mindfully. I had to stop to the grocery store to pick up a few more items for Thanksgiving dinner. When I finally found a parking spot, I reached into my wallet to grab my debit card and headed into the crowded market.

Once I got the herbs, gluten free noodles, water, purple onions, celery, and ice cream I headed to the checkout line. I thought about going to self-checkout lane, but opted to support a human behind the counter doing what a robot could have easily done and a bit more quickly. The guy at my checkout lane was slow and got the feeling that it was deliberate; but rather than get upset about him taking his slow time I decided to take a deep breath and bring presence to the situation.

Because he was going so slow, I decided to take my cell phone out of my pocket and see what was going on Facebook; but then I realized what I was doing. I was avoiding being present. So, I put the phone back into my pocket and took another deep breath. I had been avoiding turning around to see who was behind me because I felt a presence watching me, and it made me somewhat self-conscious. I surrendered to the discomfort and made eye contact with the individual behind me–a stout black man, with happy eyes adorned with very nice glasses with a gold frame. We raised our eyebrows at each other as we both directed our attention at the slow man behind the cash register.

Then the man behind me commented on my grocery selection. “That’s an interesting diet, vegetables, herbs, ice cream, and water.” He wanted to know where the turkey was. I told him it was in the crock pot at home. We both laughed. He said I didn’t look like someone who ate ice cream. I smiled, as I thought about my love affair with ice cream. By this time the guy behind the registered was saying hello to me and ringing up my grocery. When he was done. I pulled what I thought was my debit card from my pocket to pay. Accept it wasn’t my debit card. It was my minister’s license card. Embarrassed, I told the guy behind the counter I’d be back. I was headed to my car to get my debit card. Before I could take another step the black man with the happy eyes behind me told the guy behind the register to add my groceries to his tab. I asked him if he was sure. He said, absolutely, told me to have blessed night and a happy Thanksgiving. As I bagged my groceries, he told me to enjoy my ice cream. I assured him that I would.

I walked out of the grocery store feeling grateful that I chose the human experience. Uncomfortable as they can sometimes be, there’s a beauty when you can look into the eyes of another human being and actually feel seen.
